“Sadly, the plea deal for Paul Pelosi is not surprising. According to a court monitoring report of thousands of impaired driving cases released by MADD in 2022, less than 3 out of every 5 impaired drivers are convicted of their original charge. Nothing excuses the choice to drive impaired and offenders should be held accountable any time this decision is made. We are relieved to know that Mr. Pelosi must use an ignition interlock device for one year, a requirement MADD victims and survivors had an integral role in passing in California.”
