Patrick Mahomes

Statement:

Regarding the incident involving Patrick Mahomes Senior and allegations of his arrest for driving while intoxicated for the third time, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) emphasizes its commitment to the prevention of impaired driving and the protection of innocent lives.

We are grateful that in this instance, no one was injured or killed. However, it is crucial to underline that choosing to drive impaired poses a significant risk to both the individual involved and the lives of others on the road. Each year, impaired driving results in the loss of more than 13,000 lives and injuries to hundreds of thousands more — tragedies that are 100% preventable. MADD will closely follow developments in this case as additional information becomes available.

Thanks to the groundbreaking HALT Act, passive impaired driving prevention technology is paving the way for a future where drunk driving no longer exists. We look forward to the day when every new vehicle contains lifesaving drunk driving prevention technology, as required by federal law, to put an end to this horrific crime.
