Nashville, Tenn., — During the month of April, Country artist Mitch Rossell will partner with national nonprofit Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to support fundraising efforts and ignite conversation around National Alcohol Awareness Month. From April 6 through April 20, fans will be able to bid on VIP Fan Experiences on Charitybuzz to benefit MADD’s lifesaving work supporting victims of drunk and impaired driving incidents across the country, as well as tune into live discussions on social media to support the cause.
Every day, about 37 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes — that’s one person every 39 minutes. Rossell knows firsthand the pain and suffering caused by losing a loved one to a drunk driver. The East Tennessean native’s most recent single, “Son,” tells his personal story of loss when his father, Roy Rossell, was killed by a drunk driver. By channeling his pain and resilience from the tragic loss of his father, Rossell found purpose in his grief, as well as healing. Partnering with MADD is another way to honor his father’s legacy.
“I lost my dad to a drunk driver when I was 10 years old. It was the worst day of my life, and I want to do all I can to try and prevent anyone else from having to experience it. I am honored to work alongside MADD to help educate and raise money in hopes to save lives,” says Rossell.
From April 6 through April 20, fans can bid on Mitch Rossell VIP Fan Experiences that include: two VIP tickets to see Mitch Rossell in concert, a private meet and greet backstage, a merch package for two including tee-shirts and ballcaps. The VIP Fan Experience is available for the following show dates: May 4, Charlotte, NC at Neighborhood Theatre, May 5, Chattanooga, TN at The Barrelhouse Ballroom, May 6, Birmingham, AL at Zydeco, May 7, Decatur, GA at Eddie’s Attic, May 12, Rosemont, IL at Joe’s Live, May 13, Canton, OH at Canton South High School, and May 14, Newport, KY at The Southgate House Revival. Bid on the auction https://www.charitybuzz.com/support/mothersagainstdrunkdriving.
Additionally, on April 13, Rossell, alongside MADD’s National President Tess Rowland will go live on MADD’s Instagram and TikTok to host a powerful conversation where they will share testimonials on how alcohol-impaired driving has affected their lives, in hopes to inspire viewers to make safe decisions before getting behind the wheel. Rossell will perform an acoustic version of “Son”, and Tess Rowland will provide actionable tips for viewers to keep America’s roads safe and help reduce impaired driving fatalities. The Live Unplugged Session will go live on MADD’s Instagram at 6 pm CT, and MADD’s TikTok at 7 pm CT (@maddnational).
Every year in April, the National Council for Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) sponsors Alcohol Awareness Month to increase public awareness and understanding, reduce stigma, and encourage local communities to focus on alcoholism and alcohol-related issues. This closely aligns with the MADD’s new initiative, Coalition 45, which aims to engage the youth and spark urgency in communities to reinforce that deaths related to impaired driving are 100% preventable.
“We at Mothers Against Drunk Driving are thrilled to partner with Mitch Rossell to amplify how devastating it is to lose someone due to impaired driving, and underscore how 37 people are killed every day in the U.S. due to this silent danger on our roads,” said Tess Rowland, National President of MADD. “As a survivor, sharing my story never gets easier, and we hope this partnership inspires the public to join us to reduce alcohol-related fatalities nationwide by making a plan to arrange a ridesharing service, walk, or take public transportation before they drink alcohol.”
MADD provides supportive services to survivors of drunk and drugged driving at no charge through local victim advocates and the 24-Hour Victim Help Line. If you or someone you know needs help, MADD is here for you at 1-877-MADD-HELP.
