What Are Your Goals for 2019?

The first month of the year has flown by. Some resolutions have stuck and others have fallen away and some are just waiting for the right opportunity to come along. Here at MADD Nebraska, we think we have the right opportunity for you. Getting involved with MADD as a volunteer. Because we believe that together we can work towards the ultimate resolution, creating a future with No More Victims.

What does it mean to volunteer with MADD? It means giving a little of yourself to make a big difference in the world. MADD Nebraska has volunteer opportunities that allow you to get involved with less time than it takes to watch the next episode in that Netflix series you are bingeing. Some of our volunteer opportunities take just an hour every few months. If you have more time on your hands, there are roles that allow you to come into the office or volunteer in some capacity each week.

So, what can you do? There are far too many volunteer opportunities with MADD to list all of them. So we will focus on a few of the most popular options. First, getting involved as a court monitor. Court monitoring volunteers can help in one of two ways. They can head into the courtroom and observe DUI cases being sentenced, helping us to be present in the courtrooms across the state and track data coming out of our priority counties. Or they can help us collect, track and analyze data from the comfort of our state office. Both of them are working in conjunction to allow us to have a snapshot of how DUI’s are being handled across the state. Second, you can get involved with our Victim Impact Panel program. The program helps to educate those convicted of a DUI on the real risks. Volunteers in this program can do many different things. anything from helping the night of the panel with sign-in, to facilitating the program in their area or speaking and sharing their personal story.

Feeling like one of those programs isn’t your calling? We have volunteer opportunities in planning events, working events, working in our underage prevention programs, supporting others through victim services and more. Just give shoot us a message or give us a call to learn more about getting involved. Or just fill out this volunteer application and send it our way to get the process started.

We can’t wait to work with you to accomplish all of our resolutions this year and continue to push closer to a future with No More Victims.
