I closed out 2017 by ringing the New York Stock Exchange bell, a tremendous honor and one I where I was proud to represent Mothers Against Drunk Driving®. It felt like the entire stock exchange was turned red to recognize MADD and the victims and survivors we support.

Watch the video here.

What comes next?

As we head into each new year filled with optimism that we will move closer to the day when there are No More Victims®.  We’ll be taking that optimism on the road very soon as we travel around the country to meet with legislators in hopes of improving drunk driving laws.

As we travel, we’ll also continue to support the law enforcement officers who are working every day to keep our roads safe.  Please pay a special remembrance to them on January 9th during National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.  We need your help in all of our work because, tragically, alcohol related traffic fatalities have increased in each of the last two years.

While we continue to optimistically move forward, we do so this year with a heavy heart, because of the death of incoming National President Nina Walker on December 3rd.

We’ll always remember Nina for her years of dedicated work with MADD in California and on the National Board of Directors.  We’ll also remember Nina’s daughter Ginger who was killed by a drunk driver.  And will keep the rest of the family in our thoughts and prayers.

For all of you who mean so much to us at MADD, we wish you a happy and safe new year.
