Operation Driver Excellence and Traffic Safety Fair

On March 16, 2024, MADD Hawaii participated in the Operation Driver Excellence and Traffic Safety Fair at Aloha Stadium. This event aims to educate teens on road safety by bringing awareness to the impact of their choices on both themselves and fellow road users. MADD’s role was to educate teens and their parents on the dangers of underage drinking and substance use.

Over 245 students and parents took the pledge to abstain from underage drinking, to never ride with an impaired driver, and to never engage in drinking and driving themselves. Various other booths provided information on the dangers of driving tired, driving distracted, driving under the influence of cannabis, the importance of wearing seat belts, and numerous other completely – safety measures that can be taken to save lives.

We are so grateful to the Department of Education, DTRIC Insurance, and Par Hawaii for hosting this important event. We are looking forward to the years to come and hope to foster a safer generation of drivers.
