Hawaii Children and Youth Summit Recap

On October 10th, MADD had the privilege of attending the Hawaii Children and Youth Summit held at the State Capitol. Over 200 youth from various islands gathered for this impactful event, which provided an incredible platform for them to discuss key issues affecting their lives and communities. The summit was more than just a gathering; it was a powerful opportunity for young voices to be heard, featuring town hall meetings and meaningful conversations that emphasized the importance of their perspectives.

At the MADD table, we engaged with attendees about the dangers of underage drinking and the importance of making safe decisions. Many young people enthusiastically took MADD’s pledge to abstain from alcohol until the age of 21 and vowed never to ride with an impaired driver. This pledge represents a personal commitment to safety, health, and responsible choices, reinforcing the core values that MADD strives to promote.

The event was an inspiring display of youth involvement and dedication, showcasing the strength of Hawaii’s future generation in taking action against impaired driving and working towards making the state a better place.
