Designated Driver Program Kicks Off for Atlanta United FC
On March 11th, MADD Georgia’s Designated Driver Program at Mercedes-Benz Stadium kicked off the 2018 Atlanta United FC season. The Designated Driver Program is a partnership with Mercedes-Benz Stadium and its commitment to public safety to encourage fans to plan ahead to have a safe way to get home that does not involve drinking and driving.
In the 2017 season, Atlanta United FC finished in the Top 5 of all MLS teams in TEAM Coalition’s Designated Driver Standings for the number of fans who pledged to be designated drivers on event day.
At the March 11th home opener against D.C. United, Mercedes-Benz Stadium drew a record crowd as the biggest crowd in MLS history and the fourth-largest crowd in world soccer with 72,035 tickets sold and distributed. Atlanta United FC has the top three attended games in MLS history.
With the help of a dedicated team of MADD Georgia volunteers, 623 fans pledged to be designated drivers at this event.
MADD Georgia is thankful to our partners at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta United FC, and TEAM Coalition for a successful first event of the Atlanta United FC season!
