Update 10/20: Charges were upgraded against the woman who killed a California woman and mother of six. Originally charged with misdemeanor DUI, the alleged offender know faces vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. Cina was arrested on the upgraded charges Wednesday after toxicology tests revealed she had a blood alcohol content of .21 at the time of the crash, the local paper reports via MSN .

MADD’s original statement: It is absolutely gut-wrenching that an alleged impaired driver killed a mother of six as she was driving home after visiting her newborn premature twin baby girls at the hospital. MADD is heartbroken for her husband, her children and all her loved ones. The Crash: A driver who lost control after sideswiping another car, hit Katie Evans head-on and killed her, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Sgt. Dan Dantice.

The 22-year-old suspect was treated at a hospital and later booked on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. Authorities have not released her name.

Dantrice said alcohol containers were found in the vehicle.
