100 Safest Days of Summer
School’s out for the summer and it’s time to take it easy, chill out with your friends, and have fun in the sun! But did you know that the 100 Days between Memorial and Labor Day are the most dangerous times for teen drivers? According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), during this period, crash rates spike for teen drivers, and they are 3 times more likely to be involved in a fatal car crash!

Fatal crashes are preventable if you follow these reminders:

  • Always wear your seatbelt (wearing a seatbelt reduces the risk of fatal injury by 45%).
  • Follow the speed limit (Speeding accounted for 35% of fatal crashes among 15–20-year-old males).
  • Focus on the road and put your cell phone away (Distracted driving accounts for 60% of teen crashes).
  • Don’t drink and drive. Ever! (30% of teen drivers 15-20 years old involved in fatal crashes had alcohol in their system).

Empower yourself to make our roads safer, enjoy an epic summer, and avoid being cooked!
