What is Drugged Driving: a Facebook Live Conversation

Photo Clip of Facebook Live Conversation What is Drugged DrivingWe recently hosted an event called “Facebook Live Conversation:  What is Drugged Driving?”  We invited experts from fields including Drug Recognition, Prosecution, Forensic Testing, Law Enforcement, and a family who experienced the effects of a drugged driving crash first-hand who joined us for an informal conversation to discuss what it means to be impaired by “drugged driving.” They included Trooper Kenneth White, trained in ARIDE (Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement) and a certified DRE (Drug Recognition Expert) from the Tennessee Highway Patrol; Mike Lyttle, Assistant Director for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; Kyle Anderson, District Attorney Nashville/Davidson County; Kate Ritchie, Program Director Mothers Against Drunk Driving Tennessee; and Joey & Tammy Leonard, who lost their daughter, her boyfriend, and their 12-day old granddaughter in a drugged driving crash.

Drugged Driving can encompass a wide variety of things. Many people have honest questions about what really is dangerous and what they need to know to stay safe and keep family members safe.  Can you get a DUI from smoking marijuana? Can you be considered an impaired driver just by taking medication prescribed by your doctor? Can it really be that bad to have a drink if you’re on medication?

Viewers of the event, held at the Splitscnd corporate headquarters in Nashville, found the information to be very enlightening:
