Memorial Sign Erected for William Griggs, Kassidy Leonard, and Kimberlynn Griggs

On December 22, 2017, a Memorial Sign was erected in honor of 3 victims killed instantly on October 12, 2015, in a crash on Highway 13 in Houston County near the Humphreys County line.

Kassidy Leonard and William & Kimberlynn Griggs cropped 300xWilliam Griggs, age 20, and Kassidy Leonard, age 19, were starting a new life.  They had just welcomed a beautiful baby girl to the family.  Kimberlynn Griggs was just 12 days old and they were headed to Will’s grandfather’s to introduce her.  But they never made it.  At 5:30pm, a drugged driver crossed three feet over the center lane to hit them head-on.  The impact of his truck with their car was so intense that he drove right over the top of their car.

The drugged driver was sentenced to 36 years in prison for the death of this young family.

MADD was proud to join friends and family at the Memorial Sign Unveiling to honor these victims.  The sign was placed at the site of the crash as a reminder of the consequences of drugged driving and to remember three lives taken too soon.

Kassidy’s parents, Tammy and Joey Leonard, shared their story at the ceremony and run a website and facebook page dedicated  to spreading awareness about the dangers of drugged driving.  www.stopdruggeddriving.net.
