Bicycle Ride Honorees Include DUI Victim
Dozens of firefighters, police officers, and emergency personnel make up the cycling group known as The Carolina Brotherhood. Over the span of 6 days, the group covered the 625 miles from Smithfield, North Carolina to Beaufort, South Carolina for the purpose of honoring their fallen brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the line of duty from the Carolinas.
On June 15, 2017 at 5:00 pm, battling temperatures in the high 90’s, the group pulled into Anderson, SC where fallen firefighter Kenneth (Kenny) Stanton was honored. Kenny was killed by a drunk driver on February 15, 2015 while working a crash with the Sandy Springs Fire Department.
Kenny’s family and friends cheered as the riders were escorted in by Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Fire and EMS as they passed under the American flag hanging from the aerial ladder of a firetruck. Kenny Stanton’s service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
