OVI Recognition Event in Summit County

On June 7th, MADD’s VIP speaker, Michael Gershe, Executive Director of The Magic of Life Foundation  hosted his second annual Top Cop OVI Recognition event in Summit County.  The event honored law enforcement officers who have made a positive impact in making the Summit County community safe.  The event also raised funds for the foundation to prevent impaired driving and to help those impacted by it. Congratulations to this year’s honorees.

2019 Top Cop:

Officer Anthony Avalos – Cuyahoga Falls Police Department

Trooper Matthew Boyer – Ohio State Highway Patrol, Akron Post

Sergeant Ryan Burnette – Norton Police Department

Deputy Daniel Cuckler – Summit County Sheriff’s Office

Officer Joe Giacomazza – Hudson Police Department

Detective Bert Johnson – Silver Lake Police Department

Officer Christina Laughlin – Munroe Falls Police Department

Officer Ryan Shelby – Sagamore Hills Police Department

Officer Ken Weinhardt – Twinsburg Police Department

Officer E.J. Wonner – Stow Police Department

Officer Rob Young – Bath Township Police Department

 

Marty Gershe Community Award: Steve Stahl

The Marty Gershe Community award honors the outstanding achievements of persons who inspire others to live better lives.

Andrew Moncheck Courage Award: Officer Ralph Stover, Tallmadge Police Department.

The Andrew Moncheck Courage award honors officers who demonstrate an exceptional presence in the community with strength and perseverance to keep the community safe.  This award is in memory of Andrew Moncheck who was killed by a drunk driver in 2014.

Also in attendance was celebrity emcee Kathy Vogel from 97.5 WONE, and Comedian Jeff Blanchard who roasted Judge Kim Hoover along with many others.
