February 2023 Officer of the Month
Officer Mike Adams
Holly Springs Police Department, Georgia
Officer Adams has made DUI enforcement a priority in the City of Holly Springs. The day he received certification in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST), he found his first DUI, a 0.212 Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), driving on a dark major roadway with no lights on. Since that night, every shift he works, his primary goal is finding DUI offenders. This resulted in 257 total DUI contacts between himself and other Holly Springs officers, and his 54 primary arrests for DUI alcohol.
Before being moved to the day shift, he helped other night shift officers to pursue and identify DUI offenders. He also makes himself available for officer’s questions related to DUIs, navigating Automatic License Suspension hearings, case building and documentation in report writing.
Officer Adams obtained Intox9000 as well as Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) certifications to further his knowledge in DUI enforcement. He also is in the process of obtaining crash reconstruction certification.
In addition to his enforcement efforts, Officer Adams spends time speaking with local teens regarding the dangers of what is seen as minor “drugs” as it relates to DUI enforcement and prosecution. He has a “no more” approach to DUI enforcement and makes sure those violators deserving prosecution and sanctions, receive what is needed.
MADD National is proud to recognize Officer Mike Adams as the February 2023 Officer of the Month. We thank him for his dedicated service to the citizens of Holly Springs and the State of Georgia. We wish him the best in safety and wellness in the remaining years of his career and service.
