Stephanie Childs is Executive Vice President, Corporate Relations, Diageo North America (NYSE: DEO), a global leader in beverage alcohol with an outstanding collection of brands across spirits and beer. In her role, she is part of the executive leadership team of Diageo’s market-leading North America business. She leads the government relations, corporate communications and community relations teams, including partnerships with non-profit organizations dedicated to combatting the harmful use of alcohol. Under her leadership, Diageo launched the Consortium for Responsible Drinking (MCRD), a first-of-its kind initiative to educate American communities about responsible alcohol consumption, and she championed a unique partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), the leading US anti-impaired driving organization. She sits on the Boards of the American Distilled Spirits Alliance (ADSA), the British American Business Council (BAB) and is a member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC).
Prior to joining Diageo, Stephanie served as Vice President, Global Government Relations, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, a leader in personal care products and professional cleaning supplies. At K-C, Stephanie was recognized for her longstanding dedication to leading with purpose, integrating social impact programming into public policy initiatives. She was awarded the Tom Mielke award for outstanding caring leadership and the General Counsel’s award for transformative leadership out of recognition for her deep commitment to menstrual hygiene for girls in underserved communities and to ensuring that families in need have access to diapers and maternal health services.
Stephanie has extensive executive experience in the public and private sectors, including Head of the Washington, DC office for PepsiCo, the largest US food and beverage manufacturer, and Vice President of Global Government Affairs for the multinational IT services company, Cognizant Technology Solutions. She led the government relations organization of the United States Postal Service, the largest postal service in the world, and served as Senior Advisor to the Administrator of the Minority Business Development Agency and to the Under Secretary for International Trade, two United States Department of Commerce agencies. After graduating law school, Stephanie worked at the US Senate Judiciary Committee, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, and as a writer in the White House Office of Special Messages and Correspondence. She earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Virginia. The proud mother of two young adults, she lives in her hometown of Washington, DC.
