Darlene Thomas Peshlakai is the mother of seven children, five girls and two boys. Darlene sadly lost two daughters, Del and DeShauna to a drunk driver in Santa Fe, NM on March 5 and 6, 2010. She now has five living children and two in her heart.
She has hosted many events including motorcycle runs, basketball tournaments, and rodeos in honor of Del and DeShauna advocating for not drinking and driving.
Born in Albuquerque, NM, she was a preschool teacher for 28 years is currently retired and is a busy grandmother of many grandchildren.
She is Navajo and lives on the Navajo Reservation of Naschitti. She has been married to her husband, David for 45 years. You can find Darlene at her grandchildren’s basketball games and rodeos, while also advocating to end drunk driving.
