Underage Drinking Prevention Program – hits the ground running!
Ms. Makena Young joined our Program Director, Alice Liu, and headed to the Leeward side on November 14, 2023. Four Power of Youth presentations were delivered during the 10th-grade Health Class at Campbell High School in Ewa Beach. There was a total of 113 students who learned about why they should say no to alcohol and other drugs. The students were engaged and excited to learn and were very active in discussions. At the end of each presentation, the students took a stand by throwing a Shaka (hang loose hand gesture). “I am not sure what I expected to see,” said Makena Young, MADD’s new Program Specialist, “but I was excited that so many students took a stand. I am looking forward to sharing our MADD mission and recruiting youth to take part in the teen influencer program in the summer of 2024.” MADD Hawaii is excited to be expanding our Underage Drinking and Other Drug Use Prevention Programs.
