Saturation Saturday
On August 29, 2020, MADD will launch the second nationwide “Saturation Saturday,” an opportunity to support law enforcement departments and publicize NHTSA’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” summer activation.
This initiative was first launched in Missouri with tremendous success and later spread to Illinois and New York. In 2019, 150 MADD staff and volunteers from across the nation teamed up with 262 law enforcement agencies at roll call events, checkpoints and press conferences to launch the first nationwide Saturation Saturday, held the weekend before Labor Day weekend. The goal is to highlight and show MADD’s support for increased traffic enforcement during one of the most heavily traveled and dangerous times of the year.
Hawaii counties will be participating but will be making accommodations to remain safe in light of Hawaii’s current COVID19 numbers.
Drunk driving can happen to anyone. Fortunately, high-visibility law enforcement and technology such as ignition interlocks will not only stop drunk driving, but will end it once and for all.
Together, we can protect our families from drunk driving. Support the heroes who keep our roads safe. High-visibility law enforcement catches drunk drivers and discourages others from driving drunk. It’s time for change! One death is unacceptable.
