2017 Memorial Wreath

Each year at our Walk Like MADD Colorado events, Walk attendees will find a special tribute area at the start of the Walk.  It is a place where victims and survivors, along with their family, friends and community members, can take time to remember the lives that have been affected by drunk and drugged driving.

At the Walk’s tribute area, everyone is invited to help create MADD Colorado’s Memorial Wreath in order to honor those whose lives were taken and those whose lives were changed forever.  Attendees at Walk Like MADD use strips of fabric to write a loved one’s name, draw a picture, share a memory, or provide an inspiring quote. After all of the Walk Like MADD events in Denver, Greeley and Colorado Springs are over, these hand-decorated fabric strips are collected and tied together in order to create our Memorial Wreath.

The Wreath is unveiled at our Candlelight Vigil events in November, where victims, families, friends and community members gather with law enforcement and community agencies to honor loved ones and to support one another. The Candlelight Vigil events include a tribute slideshow of Colorado victims and survivors of drunk and drugged driving crashes and a “Kigil,” (or a Kids’ Vigil) area for children to honor and remember their loved ones through art projects and crafts.

We welcome you to join us at any of our Walk Like MADD events and stop by the tribute area to help us make this year’s wreath one to remember.
