MADD South Carolina 2024 Law Enforcement Recognition Dinner & Training Symposium

How the Nominations Work

Anyone can nominate anyone for a MADDY, and we’ve made it very easy! Go to http://tinyurl.com/5xap7vpe.

All nominees are invited to attend the recognition dinner at MADD’s expense.  (Two seats for group/agency/organization categories.)  Guests are welcome and encouraged and tickets can be purchased for $45 when the nominee RSVPs for the dinner. All dinner reservations can be made at: https://fundraising.madd.org/event/MADDSCLER.

We’d love the whole family to be there to see their hero take home a MADDY!  All nominees will be recognized and receive an award at the dinner.  Just being nominated is an honor so please nominate anyone you think deserves the recognition, not just if you think they will win.

There are detailed descriptions of each award on the nomination portal, but here is the brief version.

• DUI Enforcement Hero of the Year
• DUI Enforcers of the Year (top 5 arrest totals for troopers and top 5 arrest total for local law enforcement)
• Millennium Achiever (1,000+ career DUI/BUIs)
• DUI Enforcement Hero Agency of the Year
• Drug Recognition Expert of the Year
• MADD Compassionate HERO Award (for a first responder who went above and beyond in supporting crash victims)
• Outstanding Dedication to BUI Enforcement (individual)
• Outstanding Dedication to Underage Drinking Prevention by a SLED Alcohol Unit Agent
• Barry Barnette DUI Prosecutor of the Year
• Outstanding Alcohol Enforcement Team
• Outstanding Dedication to Underage Drinking Prevention (individual or community group/coalition—non-law enforcement)
• Outstanding DUI Prevention Communications Initiative (social media, press events, public campaign, etc.)
• Power of (You)th Award (advocacy award for individual youth or youth group)

Additional awards not based on nominations will also be presented.

Scholarships

Thanks to generous supporters, MADD wants to help ensure that all nominees can attend, even if their agency cannot afford to send them. If your agency is more than one hour away in travel time and you’d like a hotel room for May 17^th because your agency cannot cover that, MADD can assist while funds remain available.  Email [email protected] to make that request.

More About the Recognition Dinner

You’ll want to be with us on May 17^th! In addition to recognizing the absolute best among law enforcement and community partners, our ceremony will include:

• MADD victims/survivors from around the state as part of the ceremony
• A special tribute, including the reading of names, of officers we’ve lost or who have been injured by impaired driving throughout our state’s history
• An impaired driving fallen officers memorial table*
• An appreciation item for all attendees
• A fantastic dinner!

*If you have a name you would like to send us for the fallen officer table, please email it to [email protected]. If you are not sure if you sent one before, go ahead and send it and we will take out any duplicates.
