In June, Karlotta Carvalho and Theresa Paulette visited Molokai to meet with the intermediate and high school teens and parents at Alu Like’s summer program. Jana Sasada, Program Supervisor, was concerned about incidences of underage drinking and alcohol poisoning of a 16 year old and invited MADD to speak to the students about its lifesaving mission.
Karlotta and Theresa shared their personal stories of loss of their young sons in impaired driving crashes and their desire to end impaired driving and prevent underage drinking, and hopefully see a day when there are no more victims. The teens were attentive and appreciated MADD’s visit to their Island. Jana gifted her Oahu visitors with Molokai bread before their return flight to Honolulu.
