Interlocks is a key component of our <a class=\"text-red\" href=\"https:\/\/madd.org\/drunk-driving\/\">Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving<\/a> which began in 2006.&nbsp; We celebrated when Tennessee passed our own <a class=\"text-red\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.gov\/content\/dam\/tn\/safety\/documents\/House_Bill_1843.pdf\">All-Offender Ignition Interlock Law<\/a> in 2013 and again when a <a class=\"text-red\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.gov\/content\/dam\/tn\/safety\/documents\/ComplianceInstructionLetter.pdf\">compliance-based component<\/a> was added to strengthen this law in 2016.<\/p>\n&nbsp;\n<p><strong>To help officers who encounter drivers who have a device installed or who have been ordered to have one installed, we have gathered some information that may be helpful if a citation is needed for violation of this law.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-94f7ef2 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"94f7ef2\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 is a class A misdemeanor to:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n&nbsp;\n<ul>\n<li>Solicit another person to blow into their device to start their vehicle<\/li>\n<li>To blow into a device for another person<\/li>\n<li>Knowingly provide a vehicle to a person without an IID when required to have IID\n<ul>\n<li>First violation- forty-eight (48) hours of incarceration;<\/li>\n<li>Second violation seventy-two (72) hours of incarceration;<\/li>\n<li>Third and subsequent violation seven (7) consecutive days of incarceration;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-15e1151 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"15e1151\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><u>It is a class B misdemeanor:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n&nbsp;\n<ul>\n<li>a person who drives a motor vehicle without a functioning ignition interlock device installed as required by law all be punished by confinement for not less than seven (7) days nor more than six (6) months, and there may be imposed, in addition, a fine of not more than one thousand dollars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n&nbsp;\n<p><strong><em>Does not result in suspension or revocation of license.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n&nbsp;\n<p><a class=\"text-red\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.gov\/safety\/driver-services\/locations\/iidinstall.html\">Additional information
