SUMMARY:Walk Like MADD 5K - Bakersfield
DESCRIPTION:Since 2009\, our community has seen at least 4\,000 DUI arrests made each year\, with 4\,300 in 2018\, according to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office. That’s more than 11 DUI arrests per day! \nSadly\, many impaired drivers weren’t stopped in time\, and instead caused major damage to innocent lives caused by DUI crashes. \nWalk Like MADD & MADD Dash in Bakersfield — presented by Chain | Cohn | Stiles — is your chance to do something about drunk and drugged driving in our community. For the sixth year\, Kern County will come together on Sept. 28 to proclaim\, “No More Victims!” \nYou can help by signing up as a walker\, runner (5K or 10K)\, team captain\, or volunteer. Parents: The event also features a free kid’s fun run. You can also get involved if you aren’t able to attend in person by signing up as a “virtual walker\,” or by making a donation on in honor of a participant or team. \nAll funds raised from this event stay in Kern County to raise awareness of the DUI problem locally\, raise funds for MADD Kern County’s educational programs and victim services\, and support local victims and survivors of drunk and drugged driving crashes.
