Please reach out to the madd South Dakota office if needed and know that our national hotline is available 24\/7 at: 1-800-madd-help.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to add other family or friends to our monthly newsletter, please email their mailing address or email to <a class=\"text-red\" href=\"mailto:Sd.state@madd.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sd.state@madd.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We need Sponsors for the madd dash this year taking place April 27, 2019. Our fundraising page on Donor Drive is now open and our goal for 2019 is $12,000. Start looking at getting your team together. Remember that the funds stay in South Dakota and keep our office open, helps us help Victim families, train Victim Advocates, work on legislation, buy informational items, put on different programs and set up booths across the state. And all of this done by Volunteers, with no paid staff in South Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Our victim story for this month&#8217;s newsletter is Ricky Anderson. He was injured by a drunk driver and spent over 30 years in a wheel chair. We don&#8217;t know how many lives Ricky saved over the years, but I am sure it was a lot. Ricky went with madd to a lot of events over the years. He is missed by family and all the friends he made over the years.<\/p>\n<p>For this newsletter, I&#8217;d like to highlight<strong> legislation<\/strong>. Talk to your legislators! You should have received the pamphlet regarding Leandra&#8217;s Law for New York. madd South Dakota is trying to mirror New York&#8217;s law. You can find your legislator&#8217;s info, such as picture, email, address and phone # on this page: <a class=\"text-red\" href=\"https:\/\/sdlegislature.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/sdlegislature.gov\/ <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Talk to your law enforcement as well. Each Police station, Highway Patrol and Sheriffs office received the same information regarding this life-saving legislature.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DID YOU KNOW?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kids who start drinking young are seven times more likely to be in an alcohol-related crash.<\/li>\n<li>On average, two in three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash in their lifetime.<\/li>\n<li>Every day in America, another 29 people die as a result of drunk driving crashes. That is one person every 50 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have ideas for our madd in South Dakota, please drop me an email and share.
