SUMMARY:MADD Legislative Press Event
DESCRIPTION:MADD National President Colleen Sheehey-Church will be speaking at MADD Rhode Island’s legislative press event at the State House to announce its legislative initiatives in Rhode Island for 2018 and beyond on March 20 at 3 p.m. in the State House Rotunda. \nThe media and the public are invited to attend. Representatives of the organization\, drunk driving victims\, a representative from the Attorney General’s office\, community leaders and some of MADD’s community partners will be speaking briefly about the importance of the initiatives. \nSome of the legislation being highlighted are those sponsored by the Attorney General’s Office\, as well as increasing penalties for Child Endangerment as it pertains to DUI. Other legislative initiatives being advocated are those in line with the planks of MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving including enhancing Ignition Interlock laws in the Ocean State\, Sobriety Checkpoints and Administrative License Revocation.

DESCRIPTION:We are holding a special calendar raffle in conjunction with the Walk. Each day in June one winner will be drawn.  The winner drawn will win the prize of the day.  Example: the person’s name who is drawn on June 5th will win the Pane e Vino restaurant gift certificate worth $50 and the person whose name is drawn on June 29th would win the overnight stay at Renaissance Providence Hotel worth $242. The calendar of prizes is attached.  \n We are selling tickets for $20 and for $10.  The $20 ticket gives raffle ticket purchasers the chance to win any of the 30 prizes we are giving away and the $10 ticket gives them the opportunity to win any of the prizes from June 19th to June 30th. SUMMARY:Strike Out Drunk Driving Bowling Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Mothers Against Drunk Driving of Rhode Island and community partners such as the RI State Police\, Municipal Law Enforcement Leaders\, Traffic Safety Advocates\, and young people and their families join forces to kick off the each holiday crackdown on drunk driving with a message of deterrence for drivers across RI.  MADD RI hosts a bowling tournament to coincide with our Red Ribbon Campaign in November with family\, friends\, and partners\, which continues to support MADD’s ongoing efforts to serve victim families and educate young people and their families. The event has been coined “STRIKE OUT DRUNK DRIVING” since that is the truth within MADD’s mission. \nThe bowling tournament requires participants to create teams of four or five players to compete and are treated to the program\, food\, beverages and desserts. SUMMARY:Annual Candlelight Vigil
DESCRIPTION:MADD helps survivors survive. We’re a hand to hold\, an ear to listen\, and a shoulder to lean on. MADD helps drunk and drugged driving victims with emotional support\, especially during the Holiday Season. The Candlelight Vigil serves as an event that memorializes and honors victims as innocent people who were killed or injured needlessly. Families get involved with MADD as part of their healing journey to help prevent tragedies from striking others. The vigil reminds the general public that no one is immune to the completely non-discriminatory person who chooses to drink\, then drive. \n  \nMADD RI’s annual vigil of Hope and Remembrance that serves to put faces of people who have been loved to numbers in RI’s ongoing challenges with drunk and drugged driving. \n                        This is the 15th year that a Rhode Island high school hosts the event. \nJoin us on December 6 from 7-9 p.m. at The Prout School located at 4640 Tower Hill Road\, Wakefield\, RI 02879
