Officer Tyler Lenehan

February 2023 Mission Moment Officer Tyler Lenehan Elk Grove Police Department, California

On January 21, 2022, Officer Ty Lenehan, 44, was killed when his police motorcycle was struck head-on by a drunk driver on State Highway 99, near 12th Avenue, in Sacramento, California. The drunk driver was traveling in the wrong direction on the divided highway at about 5:15 am when he struck Officer Lenehan. The man was arrested by members of the California Highway Patrol as he attempted to walk away from the scene. The subject, who had at least one prior DUI arrest, was charged with felony DUI. Officer Lenehan was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had served with the Elk Grove Police Department for six years. He had previously served with the Citrus Heights Police Department for four years and the Galt Police Department for two years. Officer Lenehan is survived by his wife, who is an officer with the Sacramento Police Department, and two children.

The Elk Grove Police Department is honoring Officer Ty Lenehan during the month of January by wearing a special patch in his remembrance. See their Facebook post below and view the video at https://fb.watch/hQ2NcLDZGt/. Receiving the phone call you never want to receive, living this, making this; we ask, was the drive worth it? We have paired up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) MADD California and created a special patch in honor of Officer Ty Lenehan #281. For the month of January our Officers will be able to wear these patches in remembrance. Until we meet again Ty 💙
Officer Steven Page and K-9 Baloo
MADD proudly recognizes Officer Steven Page of the Euharlee Police Department as our Officer of the Month for January 2023.  Officer Page joined the Euharlee Police Department in December 2020.  He has a passion for traffic safety, impaired driving enforcement and education. Officer Page is a Georgia Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and through his dedicated efforts made 39 successful DUI cases in 2021, and 33 in 2022. Officer Page not only uses his expert training and abilities to get unsafe drivers off the road but has become the first Euharlee Officer to be certified as a law enforcement Phlebotomist.  He works with his K-9 partner, Baloo, and not only have they removed impaired drivers from Georgia’s roads, but have also seized significant amounts of drugs that never made it into the hands of our community. Officer Page has also dedicated his time on 2 occasions in 2022 to visit schools and discuss the dangers of drugs and alcohol with children.  He has made outstanding strides to get unsafe impaired drivers off Georgia’s roadways. MADD National is proud to recognize Officer Steven Page as the January 2023 Officer of the Month.  We thank him for his dedicated service to the citizens of Euharlee and the State of Georgia.  We wish him the best in safety and wellness in the remaining years of his career and service. Thank you to Lieutenant Cliff Yeager, Field Operations Bureau Commander, Euharlee Police Department, for his nomination of Officer Page for this recognition.

MADD extends our deepest condolences to the agencies and families who have lost officers and loved ones in the line of duty
