On January 23, 2018, the MADD South Georgia Chapter along with local law enforcement in Moultrie, GA launched a campaign to encourage seat belt use.<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

MADD’s mission is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking. Gary Robinson, the community action site leader of the MADD South Georgia Chapter highlighted that other traffic safety issues have also been part of MADD’s concern in keeping the roads safe.<\/h4>\n

Moultrie Police Lt. Daniel Lindsay mentioned that the seat belt message will continue to be highlighted throughout the year.<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

In a statement issued through e-mail from Roger Hayes, the Director of Law Enforcement Services for the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, 58 percent of traffic fatalities in Georgia in 2017 were not wearing seat belts, which represented 1,533 deaths on Georgia’s roads.<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gary Robinson highlighted that during presentations to schools, messaging always includes drunk driving, but also features other highway safety rules like wearing seat belts and the dangers of speeding.<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n
