DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to be hosting the fourth edition of our Lordship – Short Beach community event. In 2020 it was the first running event in town after restrictions were lifted. With close to 200 participants last year we are planning to go past that number!\nDon’t get shut out. We will limit this event to 350 runners. \nWith the cooperation of our Stratford town departments we will host this event from the very scenic Short Beach in Stratford CT\, Saturday\, Aug. 5th. \nThe 5K event is limited to 350 people. The 1+ mile untimed walk is limited to 100 people.\n*We are counting on you to help follow all safety procedures on your end so that we can have a very successful event! \nALL ABILITIES ARE ENCOURAGED. You can run or walk this 5K (3.1mi) course. Everyone that enters is part of our computer-timed event & eligible for awards. If you chose NOT to be timed please let us know when you pick up your bib. \nThe Short Beach Run also offers a shorter\, 1+ mi walk option. \nPLEASE NOTE – this 5K event is NOT the MADD DASH. This is the fourth year for the event designed and owned by MS Running Productions. DESCRIPTION:For 29 years MADD-CT has hosted one of the top events in Fairfield County. We look forward to having you join us for the 30th edition and help the programs and victims that MADD supports. There are many options and great family friendly pricing for you to take advantage of and enjoy. Our flat and scenic courses are easy to maneuver and encouraging for all ability levels. Last year our participants in the 5k distance ranged in age from 8 to 92!\nWe salute our Title Sponsor – Koskoff  Koskoff and Beider PC.  They have supported this event and MADD CT for many years. \nWe thank our presenting sponsor Milford Bank for returning along with the Town of Stratford and many others who have helped us host a great event for 29 years.\nWe start and finish at the very scenic and bucolic Short Beach in Stratford. When you are done it’s just a 50 yard walk to the water! So take a cooling dip after your exciting finish. There will be a variety of food and fluids to enjoy with your friends\, family and new acquaintances. After the awards ceremony we will have an exciting gift give away so stick around for the prizes. \nWe offer great commemorative shirts to pre registered by July 15 (to guarantee sizing). After that date the sizing will be as available\, There are usually shirts available on the day of the event- but don’t take that chance- Please pre register! (It helps us to order many items if you are in our database on time). \nThe 5k distance- whether you run or walk- will be computer timed. The 2 mile Lighthouse Stroll and the Kids Scampers are untimed and non competitive. \nThere is plenty of parking at Short Beach- But park rules- NO DOGS/PETS ALLOWED. DESCRIPTION:WHY WE WALK: \nThe 2018 Fairfield County Walk Like MADD is dedicated in memory of Matthew Quintiliano Jr.\n \nMatty Quintiliano\, Jr.\, was just a few days shy of his 18th birthday when in the wee hours of October 23\, 1978\, a drunk driver traveling in the wrong direction on Route 8 slammed head-on into the car in which Matty was a passenger.  In the blink of an eye\, our whole world as we knew it changed forever.  We were high school kids – we weren’t supposed to die at 17 or 18 years old!  Matty was an amazing son\, big brother and friend to so many.  He was fun-loving\, always willing to help a friend and as you might suspect at 17\, very popular with the girls!!! When I first met Matty I knew I had found a very special person\, our friendship was one that I’ve never experienced with anyone else.  I miss him every single day\, I feel his presence at different times in my life\, my husband & I honored his memory by naming our only son after our Truly Best Friend\, and I’m still angry that he was taken from us by the careless action of another person.   This year marks the 40th anniversary of Matty’s passing and by sharing his story\, our hope is to keep his memory\, and all victims of drunk driving memories\, alive.
