My Name is...

Austin Lockwood

At 1:40 AM on June 10. 2018, Austin, was murdered by a drunk driver. That driver’s choice completely shattered our lives. Austin was taken from me, from his siblings, his grandparents, his girlfriend and everyone that knew him and loved him. The crash took place in northern Wisconsin where Austin had gone to help clean an acquaintance’s summer cabin. A 21-year-old drunk driver took Austin, he never came home. Austin has always been one of the kindest, most giving people you would ever meet. Austin is very close with his brother and sister, they did everything together, from sports to working, even double dating, traveling, just spending time together. As the kids grew, so did their bond. Being with them, together was ALWAYS fun. The love and support and understanding they had for each other is something that I cannot put into words. We had each other. We were blessed. The kids were best friends. Not everyone gets to grow up with their best friend in their own home. 43 days after moving into our dream home, 31 days after completing college, 15 days after his 23rd birthday, I was told, Austin would never ever come home again. Losing Austin has destroyed me. The person driving impaired not only took Austin’s life, he took my life. I will never get to see Austin buy a home, get married or have children. The killer took my dreams when he took Austin from me. My life will always exist under the darkness of loss and grief. Our lives are changed forever.
