2. REGISTRATION for the panel is from 6:15 p.m. - 6:50 p.m.  on the evening of the panel you choose to attend.

If you arrive after 6:50 p.m. you are considered late.

• The panel will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.
• If you are late, you will not be admitted. The program will last between 1 to 2 hours.

3. You must present a photo ID at the door.

• You will not be admitted without proper identification.

4.   $75 to be paid at time of attendance

Please have the money order filled out  and signed with your name, prior to arriving at the VIP.

5.  $25.00 (Separate money order) for guests (Parents, guardians, drivers, etc.) and is collected at the time of registration.

6. Any court mandated client under the age of 18 years old is to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

     No children will be allowed (under the age of 14 years old)   Anyone UNDER 21 must sit in the front row.

7. Interpreters must accompany participants who are not comfortable with fluent English

8. DRINKING OR ILLICIT DRUG USE PRIOR TO ATTENDANCE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED - If use of either is suspected, you will not be allowed to attend and the courts will be notified.

9. Clients who successfully complete the MADD Victim Impact Panel will receive a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION at the end of the program.

• It is the clients’ responsibility to deliver this document to court officials.
• There will be a $50.00 labor FEE to replace lost certificates.

MADD CONNECTICUT VICTIM IMPACT PANEL

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Connecticut State Organization offers Victim Impact Panels (VIP) as required by PA 01-2001 (An Act Concerning Victim Impact Panels) effective October 1, 2001.  Various public agencies including MADD collaborated together to develop a program that presents the devastating consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. 

As the epidemic of drunk driving spreads, so does the potential for harm.  In Connecticut alone, there were  86 alcohol and/ or drug related deaths in 2008.  At a VIP, you learn that these deaths were truly 100% preventable .  A VIP offers you the opportunity to hear, see, and feel how one poor and thoughtless choice has the potential to ruin lives forever.

MADD encourages you to attend a panel with an open mind.  A MADD VIP is presented in a non-accusatory and sincere way.  It is not the intention of MADD or the panel speakers to blame any attendees for the tragedies that they have experienced.  Rather, it is the VIPs mission to influence your attitudes and behaviors in a responsible way as to prevent future offenses and alcohol related crashes.
