Tie One On For Safety

Tie One On For Safety (TOOFS) Project Red Ribbon

Title Sponsor:  Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield

Thanksgiving - New Years' Day

It's a time when spirits are high, celebrations thrive and travel increases across America's roadways.  Tragically, drunk driving is on the rise during this special time.  The number of alcohol-related traffic fatalities in 2007 was 12,998 (per NHTSA).  In Connecticut 101 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes.  That is why MADD conducts the Tie One On For Safety holiday ribbon campaign throughout November and December.

MADD created the Tie One On For Safety campaign, which was orginally named the "Project Red Ribbon" campaign, in 1986 to heighten public attention to drinking and driving during the holiday season.  The program was designed to encourage the public to become actively involved in the fight against drunk driving by tying a MADD ribbon to a visible place on their vehicle, such as a mirror or window.

MADD asks for your help!  you have an opportunity to be involved in this campaign that can raise awareness about impaired driving within your community.  Please contact Paula at 203-764-2569 x302 or paula.dagostino@madd.org to find out how you can be involved.

Together we can eliminate drunk driving

MADD COCKTIAL TIES:  The Only Way to “Tie One On!”

Jerry Garcia has designed a fascinating collection of neck ties, emerging out of an interest in the concept of merging fashion with science and education.  This has led to the “Molecular Expressions” line of neckwear, based on the brilliant molecular patterns of alcoholic beverages (such as “Zinfandel" as seen under the microscope.)

These neck ties make a great conversation piece and may even provide the perfect opportunity to share with others that drinking and driving do not mix.  We like to say that MADD Cocktail Collection ties are the only way to “Tie One On” before driving.

A tie can be obtained with a donation of $15.00 (sold in major department stores for $29.95)

Please contact Paula at (203) 764-2569 x302 for information.

DONATE YOUR CAR TO MADD!

WE PICK IT UP!

MADD Connecticut reminds people with unwanted cars that now is the time to donate. It’s a program designed to raise funds for MADD and is being conducted throughout the state.  Whether your vehicle is running or not, you can donate a used car, truck, boat or RV to help support MADD's mission.  MADD Connecticut can pick the vehicle up from your home or business, and wrecked or in mint condition, every vehicle has a value and the donation of your vehicle will help MADD fund its lifesaving mission.

You get an IRS deduction, free vehicle pickup, avoid the headaches and cost of selling a used car -- and help support MADD, all at once!

For more information contact the MADD Connecticut Office at (203) 764-2566.
