MADD reaches millions of young people and their parents throughout the year.

Protecting You/Protecting Me®

MADD’s alcohol use prevention curriculum for grades 1-5 teaches students how their brains grow and develop, how alcohol affects their developing brain, and how to make safe choices in many different situations. Each grade level offers eight lessons (10 for grade 5) with reinforcement activities. Click here to learn more about Protecting You/Protecting Me or for more information e-mail us.

Tie One On For Safety

MADD created the Tie One On For Safety campaign in 1986 to help heighten public attention about drinking and driving during the holiday season. The program was designed to encourage the public to become actively involved in the fight against drunk driving by tying a MADD red ribbon to a visible place on their vehicle, such as the antenna or side mirror. Each year, nationally, more than 1,000 people typically die during Thanksgiving to New Year’s in drunk driving crashes and more than 2,000 are killed in drunk driving crashes and/or crashes where safety belts were not used.

UMADD - MADD Chapters on College Campuses

A UMADD Chapter is a college campus-based student organization comprised of student leaders concerned about underage and high-risk drinking and impaired driving. They are also dedicated to finding solutions. UMADD addresses the problems in a holistic manner by involving both the campus and community. Learn more about UMADD.

Youth In Action

Youth In Action is a community-based program that organizes teams of high school students to work with local MADD offices and other community groups in a unique partnership to reduce retail and social availability of alcohol to minors. Youth focus their attention on local policies and ordinances, enforcement, and the use of the media as a tool for achieving social change. Teams work to change the environment that condones underage drinking as a "rite of passage.

Victim Services

MADD Victim Advocates also provide much-needed support to drunk driving victims/survivors, which includes emotional support, guidance through the judicial system, referrals and help in applying for financial assistance. MADD’s helpline 1-877-MADD-HELP is available 24 hour, seven day for any victim/survivor in need of support. There are also a variety of resources to victim survivors on topics such as grief, recovery, financial issues and the legal process. MADD also recognizes its fundamental responsibility to give a voice to victims who have been affected by the violent crime of drunk driving—both to acknowledge the reality of their losses and to bring that reality to a society numbed by statistics.
